The pottery process takes weeks from start to finish. Throwing a pot on the wheel is the first step, but then they need to dry enough that we can handle them, and add handles/bridges/logos. After the piece is completed, it needs to completely dry out before we can fire it in the kiln to make it a hard, or bisqued, piece of pottery.
Finally, we can glaze the pot. Sometimes we are spraying the glaze, other times we dunk or pour the glaze. The iron finish on the bolts and screws are painted on with a brush. Then they are fired in a kiln a second time over 2100 Degrees Fahrenheit.
The creation, drying time, multiple days that each firing requires, glazing process. . . this all takes several weeks at a minimum but the results are worth it.Â
